Continue your professional development, obtaining CME credits and getting "hands-on" training, at Association of Women Surgeons' fall conferences. The AWS Fall Conference is held annually in conjunction with the American College of Surgeons' Clinical Congress.

The fall meeting began in 1981, when Patricia Numann, MD, invited as many women surgeons as she could identify for breakfast at the ACS meeting in San Francisco. The attendees found they had the same experiences, interests, and concerns. Each year attendance increased until it became apparent that a more formal program was needed to address professional issues. The fall conference now includes a three-hour program with a featured educational presentation (normally taking place the Sunday before the start of the ACS Clinical Congress.) An annual business meeting follows this program, and a reception and dinner at a local restaurant are planned the following evening to honor award recipients. We hold the networking breakfast midweek.
