MassMouth Story Slam Submissions

Dare to be You! Share your story with the Association of Women Surgeons

AWS is seeking storytellers for our 2018 Annual Conference in Boston, and online media. Storytellers can be professionals or newcomers. Professionals from Massmouth will provide coaching and support to first-time tellers. The conference will include a live performance from three tellers while additional stories will be recorded for podcasts and other media.

"Dare to be you" stories can be heartfelt or humorous, embarrassing or inspiring. What happened that made you want to be a surgeon? What is a day in medical school that you will never forget? What moment from work will stay with you for life?

Please make your submissions by the June 15, 2018 deadline.

To pitch your story for consideration, complete the fields below.

Write a short paragraph that describes the arc of your story (beginning, middle, and end). In short, basically what happens in the story and why was the event memorable for you? Also, describe the tone of the story (funny, sad, sarcastic, etc...). Stories must all be true and first-person and should be able to be told in 6-8 minutes. In addition, please make sure all submitted stories are HIPAA-compliant.

Thank you for sharing your story pitch with us. The next step is to record a short (2-3) minute version of your story. Upload your audio file below or email a copy to info@womensurgeons.org. It does not need to be polished or a final version, it will just help us get a sense of your style and experience. Once we listen to the stories, AWS will reach out to people with stories we want to explore further. Finally, don't forget to register for the 2018 conference!
