Patricia L. Roberts MD
Patricia L. Roberts, MD, FACS, FASCRS serves as Chair of the Division of Surgery and senior staff surgeon in the Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts. She is a Professor of Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine.
She received her B.A. degree magna cum laude and completed her medical degree and general surgery residency at Boston University. Following a clinical and research fellowship in colon and rectal surgery, she has been a staff surgeon at Lahey Clinic since 1988.
Dr. Roberts is a member of numerous professional societies. She has served as Treasurer and is currently President Elect of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. She has served as chair of the program committee, self assessment committee, awards committee and local arrangements committee and the operative competency committee of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. She has chaired the exam committee and the written exam committee of the American Board of Colon and Rectal surgeons and served as Board President in 2009. She has been actively involved in the American College of Surgeons and has been Chair of the Advisory Council for Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Dr. Roberts has published over 100 peer reviewed papers, 40 book chapters and edited or authored 5 books. She has served as an associate editor for Diseases of the Colon and Rectum, Clinics in Colon and Rectal Surgery, UpToDate and the Scandinavian Journal of Surgery. She has been actively involved in education of medical students, general surgery residents and colorectal surgery residents and has received the Sedgwick Mentor’s award at Lahey Clinic and the mentor’s award of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. She has delivered over 150 invited lectures and has been selected for the last 10 years as “America’s Top Doctors,” “America’s Top Doctors for Cancer” and “Best Doctors in America.”
