Community of Support
With more than 1,800 women surgeons, medical students and residents as members, AWS is one of the largest organizations dedicated to enhancing the interaction and exchange of information between women surgeons.
- A strong network of women surgeons from academia, government, healthcare systems, and other individuals supporting and advocating for the mission of AWS.
- Awards and recognition programs honoring outstanding accomplishments of women surgeons as well as those who have contributed significantly to the advancement of women surgeons. The AWS Foundation annually recognizes individuals who have contributed exceptional service to women in surgery. Nomination forms are available to nominate an individual you feel has made an impact on women in surgery.
AWS holds an annual conference in the fall in conjunction with the American College of Surgeons. AWS meetings provide the opportunity to meet other women who have similar aspirations and obstacles. We share ideas and strategies to address the challenges faced in their personal lives and professional careers. Continue your professional development, obtaining CME credits and getting “hands-on” training, at AWS’ fall conferences.
You will find an incredible library of articles and publications both in the Resource Library and in the Members-only section of the website. A few examples include:
