Are you an established surgeon willing to lend your time to help a woman surgeon begin her first year in practice?

Or are you a graduating resident or fellow who would like guidance and support as you begin your career?

The AWS Ambassador Program matches graduating residents and fellows entering their first year of clinical practice with an ambassador from AWS to share knowledge and advice as they navigate the world outside of medical school and residency.

Last year, our ambassadors made an impact on the new attendings they worked with.

Read below for participation instructions and guidelines for established surgeons and graduating residents and fellows.

Program Testimonials

"Dr. Lindy Davis is my mentee and I believe we had a successful story to share. She was just down here at my institution learning about starting a HIPEC program. I invited her after we exchanged several calls and emails with protocols and information about how to start her program. She spent two days at University of Miami meeting with all the staff that have been crucial for the success of my program. She even spent the day with me in the OR." – Dr. Mecker Moller

"I recently completed my fellowship in surgical oncology and joined on staff at Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. My goal at AMC is to start a HIPEC program. Dr. Mecker Moller and I were paired together through the AWS Ambassador program. It was extremely helpful to hear her experience developing a successful HIPEC program. She shared her protocols and we discussed how to develop a team. I traveled to University of Miami and spent two days there, meeting with the staff who helped when she started her program. It was an invaluable experience, and I am grateful to the AWS for pairing us together. We decided to write up our discussions and education materials to publish as a guide for other new surgical oncologists who also may be starting HIPEC programs." – Dr. Lindy Davis

"Thank you for organizing this program. It has been incredibly helpful for me to have the support and mentorship of Erin Gilbert at Oregon Health & Science University. It's such a reassuring feeling every time I run into her in the OR locker room and around the hospital. There's something about that support from another woman who has made it in surgery that makes me feel like this is possible." - Danielle Smith
