General Surgery Resident
MedStar Georgetown-Washington Hospital Center
Lauren Nosanov, M.D. is currently a fourth year General Surgery resident at MedStar Georgetown-Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She has been interested in medicine as well as the arts since a young age, influenced by both her mother, a professional artist and photographer, and her father, an Anesthesiologist. She attended the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University, graduating with a B.A. in Individualized Study with a concentration in Theatrical Direction. After working in professional theater in New York, she opted to pursue a career in medicine, receiving a certificate from the Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program at Columbia University. Dr. Nosanov then earned her medical degree from the University of Southern California, where she additionally completed a year of dedicated research focused on Trauma Surgery funded by the Dean’s Research Scholarship. During residency training she has remained clinically and academically interested in Trauma and Burn surgery, serving as a research fellow at the Firefighters’ Burn and Surgical Research Laboratory, and plans to pursue fellowship at the completion of her residency.
Dr. Nosanov has been actively engaged with the Association of Women Surgeons since she was a medical student, working to build the AWS Twitter presence under the guidance of Dr. Amalia Cochran and Dr. Sharon Stein. She considers the support and mentorship she has received from the AWS to be crucial to her development and success as a surgeon.
