Research Madness

AWS Research Madness: Road to AWS 2020
Round Two is Next Week!

The Association of Women Surgeons has transitioned our medical student/resident research competition to a virtual format: AWS Research Madness: Road to AWS 2020.This virtual format will allow for an innovative multi-round research symposium, featuring the work of talented AWS trainees from July to September 2020!

We put out a ‘Call for Abstracts’ in June, and received a high number of fantastic visual abstract submissions! In Round One, you cast your vote for the abstracts that should move on to Round Two. We will be featuring the most impactful visual abstracts on AWS Social Media throughout the week so make sure to follow @womensurgeons on Twitter to follow along!

Next week, join us for two nights of “Quickshot” presentations, Tuesday, August 4 at 9:00 PM ET and Wednesday, August 5 at 7:30 PM ET, followed by another ‘head-to-head’ vote for your choice of who will move on to Round Three! If you would like to join us, please register to attend and we will send further information. If you are unable to join at these times but would like to watch a recording of the presentations and cast your vote before August 6, please register as well and we will send you a link to the recordings.

Register to Attend ROUND TWO!

Thank you for your participation in this exciting research symposium!

More about AWS Research Madness

AWS Research Madness is an exciting opportunity for students, residents and fellow members of AWS to showcase their work to a wide, international audience. Featuring multiple "rounds" of abstracts and presentations, authors will have the unique opportunity to vary the platform through which their research is provided.

  • Round 1: This round will consist of visual abstract submissions, to be voted on through social media platforms and the AWS network at-large (July 13-18).
  • Round 2: Successful abstracts will advance to round 2, a dynamic, online series of 3-minute "Quickshot" presentations (August 4-7).
  • Round 3: Authors will advance to 8-minute oral presentations (September 1-5).
  • Round 4: The top four authors will be invited to a special Q&A session on September 28th and awarded with cash prizes and an invitation to submit your work to American Journal of Surgery (optional).
