
AWS Joint Sponsored Travel Awards - 2026 Annual Conference
The Joint Sponsored Trave Award covers the cost for a limited number of students and residents to attend the annual AWS Annual Conference. This year, the award will cover up to $750 towards registration, travel, and lodging costs to attend AWS’s in-person conference in Washington, DC from September 25-26, 2026.
AWS is proud to sponsor the Travel Awards in partnership with the following organizations:
- Society of Asian Academic Surgeons (SAAS)
- The Society of Black Academic Surgeons (SBAS)
- Latino Surgical Society (LSS)
- Association of Out Surgeons and Allies (AOSA)
Eligibility:
- Demonstrated interest in a career in surgery or surgical specialty.
- Demonstrated alignment with the missions of AWS and the partnering organization(s).
- Applicants in good standing in their program.
- Must be based in the United States medical school and/or hospital training program.
- Current resident/fellow at the time of the conference.
- Must be a member of AWS or a partnering organization, and willing to join the other if awarded a travel grant.
Please note that if you are selected and complete this program, AWS will request a summary of your experience and a blog post.
Applications will open in May 2026.
