Association of Women Surgeons

The Association of Women Surgeons (AWS), founded in 1981, is a not-for-profit educational and professional organization. With approximately 3,300 members of all genders, AWS is one of the largest organizations dedicated to enhancing the interaction and exchange of information between women surgeons. Truly an international organization, AWS has members in more than 40 countries.

Mission:  to inspire, encourage, and enable women surgeons to realize their professional and personal goals.

AWS is committed to supporting women surgeons at various stages in their career – from medical school through retirement and offers our members programs and services to: ENGAGE current and future women surgeons to realize their professional and personal goals. EMPOWER women to succeed. EXCEL in those aspirations through mentorship, education and a networking community that promotes their contributions and achievements as students, surgeons and leaders.
