Monday, September 14 at 7pm ET This Cutting Edge Conversation will be a collaboration between the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) and the Latino Surgical Society (LSS) and will focus on “Building a Surgical Career in the United States: Navigating Immigration, Training, and Leadership.” This panel discussion will address practical challenges faced by international medical graduates and aspiring Latinx surgeons pursuing surgical careers in the United States. Topics will include immigration, surgical training, mentorship, career development, and leadership. The session will feature a moderated Q&A with experienced surgeons, followed by questions from the audience. The AWS Journal Club is an international educational initiative dedicated to teaching the landmark surgical trials that have shaped the field of General Surgery while promoting evidence-based practice among medical students, residents, fellows, and attending surgeons. Our Summer 2026 session will be on August 4, 2026 from 7pm to 8:15pm CST over Zoom. This session's topic is on Acute Care Surgery. Journal Club attendees who choose to participate in our educational research study may be eligible to receive the Association of Women Surgeons Landmark Surgical Research Certificate after attending the session and completing the required pre and post session surveys.
