AWS is excited to announce that applications for our 2023-2024 Mentorship Program are now open!

This 6-month structured program is tailored towards medical students with an interest in surgery. Successful applicants will be paired 1:1 with a surgeon mentor, and will be invited to participate in 6 monthly large-group mentoring events including: 

  1. How to find and get the most out of a mentor-mentee relationship (Oct 11, 2023 - 5pm PST/7pm CST/ 8pm EST)
  2. How to prepare for residency MATCH and evaluate which program is right for you (Nov 8, 2023 - 5pm PST/7pm CST/ 8pm EST)
  3. Surgical Careers in Surgical Education, Rural, Community, Private, Military, and other practices (Dec 13, 2023 - 5pm PST/7pm CST/ 8pm EST)
  4. How to network at conferences and find other opportunities for networking (Jan 10, 2024 - 5pm PST/7pm CST/ 8pm EST)
  5. Pursuing a career as a surgeon scientist (Feb 21, 2024 - 5pm PST/7pm CST/ 8pm EST) 
  6. Balancing Family and Career (March 13, 2024 - 5pm PST/7pm CST/ 8pm EST)

Mentors will be invited to participate as a panelist for one of the above events, please indicate interest in your application. AWS welcomes mentors of all genders to participate in the mentorship program
